2015 by the numbers

Added on by Tyler Crook.

2015 was a pretty good year for me professionally and personally. Cullen Bunn and I launched our creator owned series ‘Harrow County’. And it’s been doing really well. It’s the first time I’ve worked on a series that I co-own and it’s been challenging. There’s never quite enough time!

I also started started doing some covers (for the Vertigo series ‘Dark & Bloody’) which sort of surprised me because I’ve never really thought of myself as a cover artist. But it’s been fun and feels just enough outside of my comfort zone to be good for me.

I feel like I’ve gotten better at managing my time and schedule this year. My first issue of Harrow County took almost 9 weeks. The most recent issue took me a little less than 6 weeks to draw, ink, color and Letter. THAT’S REALLY GOOD!

And I WROTE some 1 page stories for the back of Harrow County. That’s very exciting for me. Writing is something that I’d really like to do more of but I find it pretty scary.

The Numbers:

  • 204 comics pages
  • 15 covers
  • 3 conventions
  • A bunch of commissions
  • Not enough sketchbooking

I think 2016 will be more of the same but I’m probably going to do very few conventions in the coming year. And fingers crossed that Harrow County gets turned into a TV show! I want to get better at lettering and I’m thinking I might start working with more limited color pallets in the future. And I wanna do more writing.

Thanks everyone for all the support. It’s super duper appreciated!
